If your browser displays text in foreign characters, or pixelated, blurred or blinking just log out, then log in with a different browser - not an onion browser. We recommend Mozilla Firefox , maybe don't use an incognito window, and do access our system through this link: Wye Valley Visitor Centre landing page .

You have either an encoding or font scaling issue, not a computer virus Settings may have been changed by a User of your device, browser or font download, installing an app, or autoupdates of your system or OEM preloaded apps on your device. Routing via a proxy server or VPN abroad, or following a URL altered by a search engine or other referrer; or having recently browsed a webpage with different encoding can also cause these issues, which are not caused by our system.

One of the following should fix the issue

o If text is pixelated, blurred or blinking e.g. after scrolling, mouseover or editing in Windows 10
  • Reset the scale of your browser window to 100% or, if that doesn't work
  • Open Control Panel --> Appearance and Personalisation --> Fonts then either
  • Select Font Settings --> Restore Default Font Settings or
  • Run the Adjust ClearType Text wizard.

o If the characters are foreign
  1. Log out of the booking system;
  2. Uncheck Use a Proxy Server for your LAN in the Settings of a non-onion browser;
  3. Change Encoding to UTF-8 (we use UTF-8 mb4 general ci);
  4. Change the default internet fonts - they should be Unicode or Google Web Fonts;
  5. Save the settings then restart the browser to apply your changes.
NOTE
  • UTF-8 is not UTF-8 BOM; Unicode may be UTF-8 but is sometimes UTF-16;
  • See Encoding settings for garbled text for browser-specific help;
  • Our system uses end-to-end encryption so you don't need a proxy LAN or VPN when you access our URL directly from a clean device.
